Neil Diamond is one of the most successful and beloved singer/songwriters in rock and pop music history. Besides being one of the biggest selling and concert drawing artists ever, he’s also written and recorded the music that defined generations — including some of the most famous songs on the planet. In 1995, Garrett was personally hired by Paul Revere (of The Raiders) to portray Neil Diamond in the Honolulu production of “Legends in Concert”. By August 1998, Garrett returned home to Las Vegas and continued to perform with “Legends” for another couple of years before deciding to go independent. He began a nationwide performance schedule, building a strong worldwide fan community along the way—earning the title “King of Diamonds Las Vegas.” He continues to perform to sold-out venues nationwide, often in venues fit for superstars. Garrett has also received multiple accolades, including “Male Tribute Artist of the Year.” “Since Neil Diamond retired, I’ve felt a strong sense of responsibility to keep his legacy alive for future generations. It’s something I never get tired of doing,” he said. On May 19, Las Vegas Mayor Carolyn Goodman officially proclaimed the date “Rob Garrett Day,” commemorating his 50 years living in Las Vegas and 44 years as a professional Vegas performer. Now in this year, Garrett celebrates 45 years on stage in Las Vegas, with the last three decades devoted solely to paying tribute to the now-retired Neil Diamond. It has been said that no other tribute artist is so closely identified with the original performer as Garrett, who has appeared at more Vegas stages than any other. Since the June closing of “A Beautiful Noise” (the Broadway jukebox musical based on Diamond’s life story), Rob Garrett’s “King of Diamonds” show has become the only continuous Neil Diamond tribute in the U.S..
